1 Chronicles chapter 22 – chapter 29
The nation of Israel which started from one man, Abraham through his lineage, Isaac, Jacob and his twelve sons that eventually became the twelve tribes of Israel are a physical description of how a people totally given to him can have destiny and purpose and in so doing the will of God is “on earth as it is in heaven”, as He initially intended for life to be lived: i.e. To give humanity back what we had lost through Adam and Eve which is the presence of God over our lives and his glory on earth through us.
It is from this picture that God has invited us “who were not a people” to be part of this heritage with the ultimate goal of his glory filling the whole earth as we return back to Him and through us heaven has reign over the affairs of earth. And this picture is not meant to be confined and localized to the church but to entire nations through the church.
1 Chronicles from chapters 22 to 29 shows Israel at its peak, when the entire nation was placed in order of what each group of people were to do. The order first started with the chief priests (Aaron’s descendants), then the Levites who were to help the priests (Moses’ descendants), then the musicians, then the gatekeepers, then the treasuries and other officials, then the army officials, then the leaders of the tribes and the king’s overseers, warriors, officials in charge of livestock and property etc. David went through such detail of organizing the whole nation of Israel down to the detail of families. In modern day society, this is depicted in apostles, pastors, evangelists, teachers and prophets preparing the “saints for works of service”…
So then the question is why would God through David go through the trouble of placing each person in their position? Because He created each person for a purpose and when you’re out of purpose that which was meant to be done by you will not be done because God never makes two people the same. And we wonder why their seems to be so much wrong in the world around us…it’s because so many are out of purpose…and it shows.
And ultimately, the pursuit of destiny and purpose and the glory of God that comes with it is what will bring fulfilment. Ambition outside of purpose may get you wealth and fame but not true fulfilment…
God is not in the business of random…in light of this may you be inquisitive as to who you are meant to be and may God grant you the grace and wisdom to walk into the fullness of it.
